My favorite cream eye bases

IMG_4896

Hey girls! I wanted to share my favorite cream bases that I have been loving for a while now, these are definitely my go tos and favorites of the bunch! I tend to stick with more neutral shades, but do like a darker vampy look from time to time for a smokey eye! I like to use them alone on easy days, or topped with my favorite eyeshadows for a long wearing more intense look. I really love how versatile these little pots are, and the colors are gorgeous! XMy lists: Smashbox Limitless 15 Hr Wear Cream Eyeshadows, MAC Paint Pots, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliners, and Estee Lauder Stay On Eyeshadow Paints.

CCO Haul! <3

unnamedI’ve been out of town for the past few days and I was lucky enough to stumble into a CCO store! 😀 I do have one in my state but it’s a 2 hour drive for me so I rarely ever visit. I was lucky enough to find some great items, at a great discounted price, from recent past collection that I had been eyeing, but never purchased! Here is what I got: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Nude Glow, MAC Beauty Powder in Pearl Glow from the Year of Snake Collection, Estee Lauder Stay-On Shadow Paint in Steel, MAC Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Catch My Eye, and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Adored.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Impulsive

1 copy2 copy3 copy

Oh my, oh my. These Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks $30 are amazing. I picked up the shade Impulsive, which is a fresh, pink nude (showing up a bit warmer in the photo). The formula is very creamy and long-wearing which is a rare combination, and I have heard through the grapevine that these are Tom Ford lipstick dupes! 🙂

Have you guys tried these out yet? XO

March Beauty Favorites 2014!

20140331_185749 20140331_18585220140331_185833

Another month has come and gone, and I have a round of monthly favorites! 🙂 Firstly, the Lorac Pro Palette made an appearance after a couple months in hiding. I’m really starting to appreciate the warm tones and matte shades in this palette. The Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer has been a solid staple on natural days, and the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Spring 2014 Dare to Go Nude Collection in Sleek & Spice is a must for any everyday eye look. I have also been wearing the Estee Lauder Day Wear as my everyday moisturizer, and the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume to welcome in spring. The new Sephora Formula X Nail Polish in Obsessed is amazing, almost like a gel manicure in a bottle. The Bath & Body Works Candle in Electric Tokyo was part of their destination collection, and is a soft, sweet floral, cherry blossoms, with a burst of sake.

Everyday Makeup Favorites!

emf

I have been loving some items for my everyday makeup routine this month, and these are a bundle of goodies that just make my day better. I’ve been under the weather lately so these products have really helped me look my best when I don’t feel my best.

YouTube video review and tutorial coming soon!

Everyday Dewy Makeup Look!

Hi Everyone! I wanted to show you my everyday makeup look, it’s fresh, clean, dewy, and naturally sophisticated. It’s pretty quick and easy to do, feel free to substitute certain products if you don’t have them in your arsenal! 🙂

Eyes: I first did a light wash with The Balm eyeshadow in a pretty light shimmery champagne color all the way up to the brow bone, concentrating it near my lash line. Then I look my brown felt tip marker by Hard Candy and made a neat line, a bit thicker towards the end, finishing with a tiny wing on my eye. I kept my lower lash line pretty clean to preserve that fresh, clean look! I filled in my brows with my Espresso pencil from Milani then primed my lashes for a good coat of my Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara.

Face: After exfoliating my face with my deep exfoliating cleanser, I applied my Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream No. 23 with my flat top foundation brush all over my face.  I let the BB Cream dry for a minute or two then dusted my Lorac Powder over the BB Cream to set it. I then used my Pearl Glow Powder by Physicians Formula over my cheek bones, bridge of my nose, forehead, and chin to give me that pearly glow! I then finish with my contouring powder from Milani to give me a natural face shape. For the lips I just used my Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle to give me that nice nude lip.

Products Used:

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 23

Lorac Oil Free Wet/Dry Powder WD in 2.5

Milani Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar

Hard Candy Stroke of Gorgeous Felt Tip Eyeliner in Oh Fudge

The Balm Eyeshadow in Luscious Lani

Eco Tools Powder Brush

Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara and Lash Primer Plus

Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle

What’s your daily makeup essential?! 🙂

Spring Makeup Look 2012 Picks!

Boots No. 7 Highlights – This is a wonderful highlighting lotion. It’s light, not greasy, and comes in a convenient pump bottle. It gives your skin a light pink translucent glow. I think this is a better alternative to the Benefit High Beam as you get a great amount of product, with the same look. I use this on the tops of my cheekbones, bridge of the nose, on my cupid’s bow, above the eyebrows, forehead, and chin before I dust on powder. It makes my face look fresh, dewy, and glowing.

The Balm Sexy Mama Translucent Powder – For spring and summer, I try to skip heavy liquid foundation. Instead I like using light powders. This is a wonderful matte translucent  powder to us all over your face, as for touch up throughout the day. The powder itself it finely milled, soft, and blends easily on my skin. This gives my face a flawless look without looking unnatural. It has a very light coverage so it let’s your natural color through. I think this is great for a fresh spring look!

Elf Cream Blush in Flirt – I LOVE the Elf Cream Blushes and I have every one. The pigmentation is great, feels very soft and airy, and ends with a powdery finish. I use my fingers of a flat stippling brush to sweep it across my cheeks. It gives a very natural yet pretty pink glow. The color itself it a bright flamingo pink, but blends into the skin as a bright baby pink. Lovely to have in your collection!

Loreal Colour Riche LeGloss in Baby Blossom -I’ve come to really like these glosses, especially the ones I tried. This color is a pale baby pink, and comes out of the tube pretty opaque, but blends to give a great tint of color. The gloss is not too sticky and has pretty good lasting power. I like to use this over a pink lipstick or by itself for a natural pretty pink lip. Love the packaging!

Estee Lauder Pure Color in Glacial Blue -Last year I was on the search for a great baby blue eyeshadow. I feel like a lot of people shy away from blues and green in terms of makeup, but I think these colors can look so pretty and natural with the right application. This metallic shadow is a powdery sky blue color, and gives the eyes a refreshing, bright, yet cool look. The powder can initially feel a little gritty because of the shimmer, but applies on the skin smoothly. I love wearing this eyeshadow by itself all over the lid with a brown liner, and defined lash.

Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow in Fashion Forward – This is a very pretty metallic iridescent light green eyeshadow. When it catches the light, it has a prismatic quality which makes it very interesting! One of my favorite Lancome shadows for fresh spring looks. I like using this in the inner corners of my eyes and under my lower lash line!

Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Palette in Petal Pusher -This is a great and affordable purple eye palette. This comes with eight different shimmery purple shades with instructions for different looks pressed into the shadows. The pigmentation is great, except for the lightest purple color in the left corner. I really like the Color Icon Series from Wet N’ Wild, as they are all highly pigmented and affordable.

Revlon Creme Lipstick in Primrose – This is a love/hate lipstick for me to be honest. It’s a creamy pink with blueish undertones, so it can look a little garrish on warm skin tones if applied thickly. However, this still is a beautiful shade and I’ve figured out how to make it wearable for me. I mix it with a warm pink/berry shade (like NYX Lipstick in Fig) on the center of the lips to give it more dimension and warmth. I then topped it off with the Baby Blossom Gloss which gave it a whole new color profile. In the end, the color looks, springy, plump, yet wearable.

Mac Eyeshadow in This & That – This is a staple in my eye makeup collection because I can use it on every look I create. The highlight color in particular is very good for the arch of the eye. It is highly pigmented, creamy, and long wearing. The shimmery champagne shade can be used for blending or by itself for a minimal look. Check out my Eye Basics post!

TokiDoki Eyeshadow in Carnivora -This is a great neutral shimmery champagne shade with light peachy undertones. I love the packaging for TokiDoki and the quality of the shadow itself is soft, creamy, and blendable. It gives a great sheen to your eye and is great to be used as a highlight.

Ulta Eye Crayon in White Wedding -This product was a HG eye product for me, because it still is the only thing that makes my loose eye pigments stick and last on my eye. This is a shimmery white shade and can be used under shimmery eyeshadow as well. This looks great under the light pink color in the Petal Pusher palette.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh Perfume – This was a continuation of the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume line that came out recently. It still has the cute vinyl flower detail on the packaging, and the concave bottle shape with light pink liquid. This notes are Natural Raspberry, Grapefruit, Pear, Violet, Wild Rose, Apple Blossom, Musks, Cedarwood, Plum. It is supposed to make you feel Exhilarating. Bubbly. Playful, which it does! Great daytime perfume for spring.

The BB Cream Craze

I’m all for the new BB Cream Craze. Who wouldn’t want an all in one miracle product? BB Creams are basically skincare, primer, SPF, moisturizer, concealer, liquid foundation in ONE small bottle. The trend started in Asia, (mostly Korea & Japan) where the women are obsessed with healthy, flawless, young, dewy looking fair skin. I’m pretty sure Asian women are the only ones who have 15+ products just for skincare on their vanities. (being one myself) lol Joking aside, BB Creams are a great product. They are for the most part light weight, yet have good coverage, and the majority contain ingredients for anti-aging, wrinkles, whitening, moisturizing, and concealing. The few BB Creams I tried have been fantastic. Even the ones that are more affordable are great on the skin. The only downside I would say is that most do not come in a large color range, as Asian women prefer lighter skin. The good news is, most absorb into the skin and oxidize to adapt better to your skin tone. Even so, you can use a powder foundation or liquid foundation over the BB Cream to better match your natural color. The craze has gotten so large, that even makeup companies to the west have been formulating their own version of the BB Cream. Popular BB Cream brands are Missha, Skin79, Dr. Jart, Oriental Gold, Lioele, Fairy Drops, Holika Holika, BRTC, Skin Food, Hanskin, Peripera, Laniege, Etude House, L’egere, Agnes B., Boscia, Smashbox, Estee lauder, Clinique, and Christian Dior.

Top Nude Lipsticks!

I LOVE nude lipsticks and they are my favorite to wear next to my pinks. Here are my top picks from my collection that I think are moisturizing, wearable to all skin tones, and have great pigmentation and creamy feel. They are great to pair with both natural and dramatic makeup looks, and will last a long time. I would recommend all these lipsticks as they are ALL my favorite! Enjoy!

L to R: Estee Lauder Pure Color – Crystal Baby: This lipstick is a great all over peachy nude. All Estee Lauder Lipsticks have a signature scent, so if you’re not into that, I’m not sure if you’ll like it, though the packing might make up for it. This lipstick feels incredibly creamy and pigmented. It’s a great base color if you’re looking to add a pop of color. Highly recommended.

Clarins Joli Rouge Long Wearing Moisture Lipstick 710 Apricot Sugar: This lipstick is another signature nude color. It has a coraly undertone, but ever so slight. It’s pigmented, moisturizing, and creamy on the lips. The color is buildable and blendable. A GREAT lipstick in general and great weighty packaging.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick 14: This lipstick as a bit of a darker beige nude color. This lipstick is great for natural looks and smokey eyes. Again, this feels very moisturizing and creamy. Rimmel lipsticks do have a bit of a scent but nothing over bearing. Love the “Kate” signature on the tube.

L to R: NYX – Summer Love: I love NYX lipsticks, because they come in such a large range of colors, and they are rather inexpensive! This is a great pale pinky nude shade. Although this isn’t the most long wearing lipstick, it’s a good product overall. I like the way they smell, and the formula glides on my lips with ease. Looks best topped with gloss and shimmery makeup.

Lancome Color Design – Pale Lip: This is a HG lipstick. The formula of this lipstick is on the money. It has good staying power, great pigmentation, and an awesome color and texture range. This lipstick is a nude pink color with no shimmer. It’s very creamy and goes with many makeup looks. I received a couple of these as a sample in a gift set from not that long ago, and have been loving it ever since! I believe it’s part of the permanent collection.

Nars Lipstick – Cruising: Another HG pinky nude lipstick. It has a moisturizing formula and leaves great sheen. This lipstick applies most sheer compared to the others, but it’s not to say that this is a sheer lipstick at all. It can be built up, and looks very natural. This lipstick makes me feel sexy and effortless. Great lipstick!

Mac Cremesheen Lipstick – Creme Cup: This is actually pale pinky nude color but looks great for neutral looks. The cremesheen lipstick formula by Mac is probably my favorite out of their line. It has great staying power, very good pigmentation, and is still hydrating. A safe lipstick? I think so, but such a staple in my collection. (Just realized this is cut from the picture LOL..sorry!!)

L to R: Lancome – Pale Lip. Nars – Cruising, Mac – Cream Cup, NYX – Summer Love, Rimmel Kate 14, Clarins 710, Estee Lauder – Crystal Baby

My Skincare Picks!

Casewell-Massey Floral Rose Water

I discovered this Casewell-Massey Floral Rose Water when I was venturing into the organic skincare world. I love this toner because it is natural, gently cleans skin, softens, and smells great! Check your local organic market and browse through some sites online to find it. Pour a bit on a cotton round and gently glide it all over your face. There are also great alternative brands, and is great for sensitive skin.

L to R: Estee Lauder Take It Away Total Makeup Remover, Lancome Bi-Facil

There are my TOP two makeup removers, the Estee Lauder Take It Away Total Makeup Remover, and the Lancome Bi-Facil. The Bi-Facil has been around for some time now, and there’s reason why it’s one of the top selling high end makeup removers. It’s very effective, light, and non-greasy. I can use it on my face as well as on my eyes. The Estee Lauder Take It Away Remover is a bit more cream-like, and has a fresh scent. I use this strictly on my eyes for mascara and liner on a q-tip because that’s where I feel it is most effective. It can sting a bit if you put it on a raw area, but this is great for people who have combination to oily skin. I think this also comes in a wipe form.

L to R: Claudalie Bio Grape Water Moisturizing Spray, Boots No. 7 Soft & Soothed Toner for Normal/Dry Skin

Over the years I have grown an affection for Boots No. 7 products because of how great the skincare products really are. For a drugstore brand, this is worth every penny. The Boots No. 7 Soft & Soothed Toner for Normal/Dry skin is good for everyday use to clean off remaining makeup after you wash your face. I use this every morning before I put on my makeup, or if you need a fresh pick me up during the day. It makes my skin fresh, clean, moisturized, and soft. The Claudalie Bio Grape Water Moisturizing Spray is wonderful for on the go freshness. I use this after I shower to lock in moisture on my face, and also as a makeup setting spray. I notice that it gives my skin a slight fresh, dewy glow, and feels amazingly hydrated. Highly recommended.

L to R: EOS Sweet Mint Lip Balm, C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve, Sally Hansen Vita-A Lip Line Smoother

I can’t live without lip balms. The lips are the first place on my skin to get dry instantly. I’ve tried a lot of lip products over the years and these are the ones I get the most use out of. The C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve is a multi-purpose salve to use on your face, knees, elbows, lips, and cuticles. It smells like sweet rose, and feels very emollient. I apply this on my lips at night and also before I apply lipstick if my lips are particularly dry. The EOS Sweet Mint Lip Balm is a great everyday lip balm. I love this scent and I love that it’s a natural product. The balm itself is domed and is a natural waxy yellow color. I feels very smooth and gives your lips a slight tingle. Last but not least, the Sally Hansen Vita-A Lip Line Smoother. I probably use this product the most out of the three. It says it has anti-aging and vitamin-powered properties to rejuvenate and moisten your lips. It certainly does that, I use this every time I use a lipstick, or by itself during the day. It smells a bit like peaches and glides on effortlessly. This is not very long wearing, but I love it none the less!

L to R: Estee Lauder Hydrationist Serum, Swanson’s DMAE Serum, Beauty Solutions Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Serum, Swanson’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Serums are kind of a new thing I got into, as I just hit a “Omg I’m a quarter through my life” birthday milestone. Serums serve different purposes depending on the ingredients and it’s potency. The Estee Lauder Hydrationist Serum is a lightweight alternative to your typical moisturizer. It has a clear, jelly-like watery formula that absorbs into your skin quickly. It smells a bit like cucumbers and makes my skin feel soft and hydrated. The Swanson’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum is strictly for locking in moisture on my face. There are many skin products that contain Hyaluronic Acid for this purpose. The Swanson’s brand is natural and fairly inexpensive which is why I initially gravitated towards it. You just need a little drop to pat all over your face. It makes my skin feel plump and very dewy. The DMAE Serum is for skin tightening and firming. I use this sparingly in certain areas where I feel I will see first signs of aging (i.e. under my chin, neck area, around my eye area etc.) The last product is a Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Serum. This is supposed to be an intensive firming treatment for your skin. They say prevention is key, so I said why not. I use this product sparingly on my eye and mouth area.

Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid for Sensitive Skin

The Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid is a light weight, moisturizing, liquidly lotion. It’s fragrance free, non-greasy, and contains aloe & chamomile. I use this alone on my face before makeup to prep the skin, and also mix it with whatever liquid foundation I’m using to give my face a dewy glow. I love this product because it makes my skin feel supple, clean, and smooth. It’s a great all around drugstore product to have around!

Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Night Cream

This product I CANNOT live without. It’s the Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Night Cream. I discovered this last year after being discouraged from the long search for a prefect department store night cream. I tried some Estee Lauder products and they just felt too heavy, oily, and were heavily scented. This cream is light weight, smells fresh, and keeps my skin feeling hydrated and balanced. I use this in the daytime as well as an alternative moisturizer. I doesn’t feel heavy on my face and absorbs into my skin easily. This is probably my MOST used skincare product I own. I highly recommend this if you have combination skin!

This is the Lancome Tonqiue Control Purifying Toner. It contains little finely milled powder to help mattify the face after cleansing, and control shine. I LOVE this toner because it helps to control oil in my t-zone and keep my face clean. I definitely recommend this for people with oily skin, because of it’s contents and how it works on my face. This can’t find this product at the counter anymore, but it still easy to find on beauty sites or Ebay for a great price. There is a comparable product that Lancome has now called the Tonique Pure Focus Toner which I’m pretty sure is VERY similar. Check out your local Lancome counter or Lancome.com for more info!
