Maybelline The Brights Eyeshadow Palette

7 89Hey gals! I wanted to a quick more in depth review on the Maybelline The Brights palette! I picked this up at Target a couple weeks ago in the new-in stand, and for some reason I was really drawn to this! I normally don’t wear a lot of brights, nor do I have tons of bright colors in my collection, so I decided to give this a try. There are a few neutrals in there that you could use, the dark shimmery brown and matte black are actually pretty nice. The white, deep purple, lime green and gold shade left a bit to be desired. Although they are still workable and buildable, there are definitely better bright colored palettes out there. I think Wet N’ Wild has some brighter palettes that they come out every ones in a while! Overall, I still do like this, and when I want to incorporate some color I will be reaching for this! ❀

Everything is Better in 3’s! Sleek Blush by 3 in Pumpkin Review & Swatches

Hi everyone! I thought I’d introduce a new staple in my collection, the Sleek Blush by 3 in Pumpkin! Sleek is a UK brand, but OH SO GOOD. Jealous that you can’t get it here in the states! However, you can purchase it from their website, and you just have to pay for international shipping which honestly wasn’t too bad! πŸ™‚ Everything was priced in dollars also which was nice, and all the products were in the range of $3-$15 which is great!

I super like the packaging, very “sleek” minimal black with their logo, not bulky at all, and pretty sturdy. They are also very well known for their iDivine eyeshadow palettes that you can check out here! Sleek is known for great quality makeup for the price, and I have to say is one of my all time favorite drugstore brands from anywhere!!

Here’s the back of the palette, it gives you the 3 shade names, Lantern, Squash, and P Pie, these are DEFINITELY dupes for other higher end blushes, and the pigmentation is amazing. Extremely high pigmentation, and blendability.

Here are the shades!Β  (L to R: Lantern, Squash, and P Pie) How gorgeous are these! They look a bit scary at first, but I use my Real Techniques Blush Brush and lightly get a bit of product on the edges of my bristles, and buff them into my cheeks. It really gives an amazing look, and can looks very natural when lightly applied. I’ve been LOVING P Pie and Lantern!

Swatches: Lantern, Squash, and P Pie

High End Dupes: (Lantern) Nars – Exhibit A or Taos,Β  (Squash) Bobbi Brown – Pale Pink, Nars – Desire, and (P Pie) Nars – Taj Mahal

Blended out: Squash, Lantern, and P Pie

High recommend you check out Sleek, what do you guys think! πŸ™‚

December Starlooks Starbox 2012!

Hello everyone! Super fun post for you today, I recently got my December Starlooks Starbox!! It’s a monthly subscription for $15, and it’s all makeup! The brand was created based on MAC product, so the quality is really great for the price. This month was special because they told us we were all getting a 15 color eyeshadow palette worth $99!! Couldn’t wait to see what I got! πŸ˜€

First thing I saw was this card, it was really pretty and part of the lookbook that they release every month as inspiration with hidden sneek peaks. There was also tons of these iridescent glitter shreds everywhere and it looks like tinsel and snow! Loved it!!

The back of the card just explains what we are getting, and some of the color pairs we can try on our eyes. I’m seeing some bright color combos, so I’m guessing the palette is going to be pretty fun!

Here’s another little card talking about their lookbook, they also have a Facebook page that you can follow!

And here’s the palette!!! The packaging looks pretty nice, nothing crazy just a nice sleek black snakeskin textured box. The colors looks really nice and bright! It’s going to be a challenge trying to make these wearable!! I would have preferred a nice smokey palette or neutral palette with some color, but this is a good surprise.

Here’s the back of the palette, it just says what it is and a list of ingredients. Also the palette number i07A. I’m not sure if people got different palettes or not but it would be fun if we did!! You can also purchase this palette on their website, but it’s $99!!

This palette is really nice, they have the large Starlooks logo on the front, it’s simple and not too large. It’s perfect to play around with and I love how big the eyeshadow pans are!

There is a mix of bright mattes, and shimmery shades. I don’t see names of the colors anywhere but some of them did stand out to me!! The textures of these shadows are nice, they are pretty good quality for the price, I wouldn’t say it’sΒ  better than MAC, but some are definitely lacking than others in terms of color pay off, especially the mattes!

Here is another close up of the palette, the colors are really pretty, and I like that there are some colors that I wouldn’t normally purchase or try. I can’t wait to create some vibrant looks! I think I would mostly use this as a highlight color under the lower lash line, or blended with some more neutral colors.

Swatches: Starlooks i07A Palette!

Overall, I liked the palette, I thought it was a really fun addition. I wish the colors were a little more wearable, but I can’t wait to try some other products from them! πŸ™‚

What do you guys think!? πŸ˜€

Hard Candy Living Doll Baked Blush Review!

I really like this blush. It gives my cheek a bright flush of color. Blended out with a brush, it looks very natural, and gives a dewy sheen! Layered on the cheek, you can look like a “living doll”, as it gives off a slight fuchsia color. I’m a huge fan of baked mineral makeup, and this is a great addition to anyone’s collection. Perfect for spring! What do you think?
