Hi everyone! The wonderful girls at M&M’s Meeting Point blog have tagged me to do The Makeup Story tag! X I’ve been really enjoying all the responses, so here they are!
1. How old were you when you started makeup?
My first exploration in makeup started in middle school, before that I would just play with my mom’s lipstick when I had the chance just to see what color it was. I started really getting into makeup in college and afterwards since I started working and actually had money to buy more makeup. In college and high school, I would wear eyeliner the most. Nowadays, I have a crazy huge collection with everything imaginable.
2. How did you get into makeup?
I saw my mom and grandmother using makeup when I was little and was always intrigued. I think I started heavily getting into makeup after discovering beauty gurus on YouTube and beauty bloggers! Haven’t looked back since.
3. What are some of your favourite brands?
I really love Nars, MAC, Clarins, Becca, etc. etc.
4. What does makeup mean to you?
LOVE it. Makeup is fun for me, and allows me to transform myself depending on the day and mood. Just another way to be creative and edit my look!
5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face, what would they be?
I would narrow them down to serum, eyebrows, eyeliner, and a lip balm.
6. What is your favourite thing about makeup?
I really love all the brands, the packaging, and just all the great products everyone comes out with. They are so pretty!
7. What do you think about drugstore vs. high-end makeup?
I enjoy makeup from both spectrum, I’ve found really great quality drugstore products and tried really bad high end products. If I can find something that compares in performance, I will usually opt for the drugstore version. I do like indulging in high end sometimes because they tend to use better ingredients and have a better range.
8. What is one tip of advice you can give a beginner?
Less is more, and don’t be afraid to play around! The beauty of makeup is, if you don’t like how something looks, you can always start over and try something new! Also, check out the great tutorials on YouTube!
9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
I never understood the dramatic 80’s looks. 80’s in general really. haha
10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
The community is huuuuuuuggeeee and there are people from all levels and walks of life. I think that the popular ones who started the whole beauty guru phenomenon are saturating the popularity nowadays, but I do enjoy watching the everyday person telling me about a new product or haul!
Hi everyone! <3 I was perusing through the drugstore and stumbled across these beauties!! These are from Wet N’ Wild’s 2014 Limiited Edition Fall Collection, the Color Icon palettes $3.99 and the Megalast Matte Lipsticks $1.99! These are seriously gorgeous, and great quality for the price. I picked up 2 color icon palettes in Melrose at Night and Smoke and Melrose. They are beautiful satin-shimmer shadows that are mauvey neutrals. They are super buttery and creamy. The Megalast Matte Lipstick I believe are a new formula and come in rubberized packaging which I like, they remind me of the Bite lipsticks. These lipsticks are a must have. They are super creamy and pigmented and apply smooth and velvety. My favorite had to be the deep red color! The lip shades: Sweet Cream, Urban Night and Bordeaux Boulevard. Pick these up NOW!
Hi everyone! :) I found myself, yet again, perusing the drugstore isles to see if there are any new beauty bits that have come out for fall! Lo and behold, the thing that catches my attention is an oldie but goodie. I’ve actually never tried this concealer, so many people have talked about it! I’m a bit picky with concealers, and I had a few already that I’ve been rotating through, but I decided to give it a go. The color match was great, and the formula is smooth with medium overage. I would definitely set this with a light weight powder to make it last. I want to compare this to my Nars Creamy Concealer, but I think I prefer the Nars slightly more. I think overall, this is a great concealer from the drugstore to try!
Hi everyone! <3 Fall is officially here and that means re-vamping my beauty staples. Lots of new goodies have been popping up lately, here are the items that made the list! Hey everyone! <3 I’ve been in the drugstore hunting for new fall finds, and I stumbled across these little shadows! These are the Covergirl FLamed Out Eyeshadow Pots in Scorching Cocoa and Melted Caramel, and have been out for a but I think. I finally caved and decided to give them a go after passing them a few times. Covergirl has been one of those brands I don’t gravitate towards much, I prefer L’Oreal and Revlon for sure, but these spoke to me. They were just under $5 each, and came in 12 different shades. I was a little worried about quality but for the price these performed pretty well. These are great for on the go and travel for a mono look! Have you tried these?
Hey guys! <3 I just heard about the Lorac Mega Palette, coming soon from Lorac’s Holiday Collection sometime in November! I spotted this on KathleenLight‘s Instagram, this looks absolutely fab! <3 Can’t wait see it in stores!
We’ve all heard the things that our boyfriends secretly hate on us, but we love: Peplums, harem pants, Jeffrey Campbell, and anything neon. Of course worn in the right way, any piece of clothing or accessory can be flattering. Here’s a list of fashion trends with boy approval!
“At least they show a girl has a sense of humor (and confidence—because objectively they’re not remotely attractive, so it takes balls to wear one).” – Charlie, Creative Executive
High-Waisted Skinny Jeans
“They accentuate the figure and make your booty look awesome. They’re tight which is nice, and still jeans, so that’s normal.”- Tom, Grad Student
“I find them to be sexy because they give off a very casual and approachable vibe.” – Joe, Sales Manager
“My girlfriend recently bought one and it looks retro cool. I’m a fan.” – Brennan, Bartender
Fitted Leather Jacket
“I like women to have a bit of a tough look that says they can handle themselves. It gives girls a sexy attitude.”
“Boot can accentuate a women’s legs, which is a good thing. Super sexy.”
Men’s Button Downs
“Since they aren’t meant for breasts you can sometimes catch tantalizing glimpses of skin in the spaces between the buttons.” –Eli, Writer/Producer
Hi everyone! <3 I wanted to share some new lippies I picked up yesterday! They are the Flower Kiss Stick High-Shine Lipstick luxury Lipsticks. I am a HUGE fan of these lipsticks. Love the formula, packaging, price and scent. For drugstore, these are great quality and look really nice on my vanity. :) These are really hydrating and glossy on the lips with intense pigment. The scent is slightly floral but nothing over powering, and I love how creamy and smooth they apply. The line was originally created by Drew Barrymore and what’s unique about the brand is that it is cruelty free, made in the USA, and formulated with high end ingredients. They are able to offer such great products for a low price because they take pride in not doing any paid advertising. I got: Apricot Blossom, Baby Buttercup and Berry Bloom.
Hi all! <3 Fall is all about effortless luxe. I’m loving the thick, groomed brows and the brown, gilded smokey eyes. A soft, satiny lit from within face with a nude or dark berry lip. Love it! For hair, sleek and primped and a loose effortless up do is a must! Love the look on Cara Delevigne. Which trends will you be sporting this season? :)
Hello gals! <3 I wanted to share a new nail polish I discovered in the beauty isle, it is the Covergirl XL Gel Nail Polish in Rotund Raspberry. It was only a few bucks, and what stood out to be immediately was the bottle. It’s huge! The next thin I noticed that it was a gel formula. It doesn’t require a UV lamp or curing, but it’s supposed to have the long lasting and chip free formula that gel polishes have! The color is gorgeous, perfect for fall. The formula is super thick but super opaque. You’ll only need one coat of this to get great coverage and shine. I would still apply and base and top coat jsut in case, but this is supposed to last for 7 days which is amazing! It did take a little bit longer to dry, but the finished product was amazing! Highly recommend!
Hello all! <3 I finally got my hands on the Coastal Scents Fall Festival Eyeshadow Palette. I can get it off their website but I happened to find mine on Ebay. I’ve been eyeing this palette for over a year and finally decided to bite the bullet. I’m so glad I did! The palette comes with a matte black magnetic 15 well palette with a large mirror and 15x hot pots. They are mostly shimmer but there are two matte shades (nude and black). The eyeshadows are super buttery and great quality for the price. I love the warm tones and I can see myself reaching for this a lot! My favorite go to shades in this palette are Chamois Nude and Cherry Chocolate. The shades: ROW 1: Chamois Nude, Bright Copper, Dark Golden Olive, Light Apricot ROW 2: Kiwi Green, Deep Cantaloupe, Regalia Purple, American Rose ROW 3: Cherry Chocolate, Raisin Berry, New Penny, Gunmetal.
